The inspiring journey of a devoted teacher who established our sacred institution and attained Hari Pada.
Sri 108 Vidyavinoda Theertharu, known in his poorvashrama as Chilamathur Gundu Rao, dedicated his early professional life to education as a Hindi lecturer in the Government School, Proddutur.
Driven by immense spiritual calling, he established the Sri Raghavendra Seva Sangam. With the wholehearted support of his family, the Madhwa brahmin community, and members of the Vyshya community, he began performing sacred aradhana at the Rangayyagari Satram in Proddutur, laying the spiritual foundation for what was to come.
As devotion grew, so did the need for a permanent spiritual home. With the collective help of all the brahmins and devotees in the region, land was successfully acquired on Rameshwaram Road in Eshwarreddy Nagar, Proddutur.
Together, the people built the Mata. In a profoundly auspicious ceremony in 1979, the deities of Sri Padmavathi Sametha Srinivasa Devaru, Sri Mukhyaprana Devaru, and the Sri Raghavendra Swamigala Mruttika Brundavana were officially installed by Sri 1008 Sri Sujayeendra Teertha Swamiji, the honorable Peetadhipati of the Mantralayam Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt.
In the late 90’s, stepping entirely into the spiritual realm, Chilamathur Gundu Rao took Sanyasa from 1008 Sri Vidyamanya Teertha Swamiji of the Udupi Palimar Mutt, and was blessed with the divine name 108 Sri Vidyavinoda Teertha Swamiji. He continued his intense sadhana within the premises of the very Mutt he helped build.
On 15th August 2005 (Shravana Shudda Ekadashi), Sri Swamiji attained Hari Pada and entered Brundavana within the Mutt premises.
For the past 18 years, his holy Aradhana has been celebrated in a grand, magnificent manner by his vamshastaru and the Sree Raghavendra Seva Sangam (R), keeping his divine presence and teachings alive for all generations.
